The double-sided lapping machine is mainly used for double-side lapping of crystals or other mechanical parts that are parallel on two sides, especially the processing of thin brittle materials. It is suitable for various materials of mechanical seal ring, ceramic wafer, cylinder piston ring, oil pump blade bearing end face, silicon, germanium, quartz crystal, graphite, sapphire, optical crystal, glass, lithium niobate, tungsten carbide, stainless steel, powder metallurgy and other metal material surface lapping and polishing.
Working principle
The working principle of the double-sided lapping machine is shown below. The workpiece to be ground is placed in the planetary gear, and there are lapping wheel on the upper and lower sides. The lapping wheel is fixed to the surfaces of the upper and lower lapping disc, and the workpiece to be processed is placed in the differential gear composed of the sun gear and ring gear. The lapping pressure is achieved by the cylinder pressurizing the upper lapping disc. In order to reduce the force applied to the workpiece during lapping, the upper and lower lapping wheel are usually rotated at equal angular velocities of opposite magnitudes. The double-sided lapping method can avoid the deformation problem caused by the bonding error of the fixture and the stress difference between the two sides of the slice workpiece.
Features of double-sided lapping machine:
- The machine tool is equipped with the reasonable protective cover to protect the operator and the maintainer form safety and prevent splashing and spilling of the lapping oil. The equipment structure is reasonable, compact and easy to operate. It is easy to install and repair.
- Diamond grinding wheel, CBN grinding wheel and conventional grinding wheel are applied according to the user’s requirements, as well as the special dressing grinding wheel is applied for dressing to ensure the precision dressing.
- Advanced probe type dimension measurement method, the online measurement for the workpiece.
- Pneumatic device controls the upper lapping disc swing in, swing out, rising and lowering movement. Apply 3 stages of pre-pressure, main pressure and post-pressure control, the pressure value can be adjusted arbitrarily and can be automatically converted.
- The RPM of the upper and lower lapping discs of the machine tool and the ring gear of driving planetary disc can be continuously variable and the direction can be reversed. It can adjust the pressure and keep the pressure stable. The maximum pressure can meet the requirements of lapping parts after the lapping disc is blunt and dressing lapping wheel, and there is a large margin( the upper and lower lapping wheel can be rotated arbitrarily or up stop and down rotate).
- Configure lapping slurry constant temperature filtration system, and the capacity, working flow, working pressure, and filtration precision can meet the requirements.
- The electrical control system is applied PLC control system, touch screen operation panel, full English operation interface. The operator can operate skill without programming knowledge.
- The outer ring gear adopts electric lifting mechanism, which is stable and reliable.

Maintenance of double-sided lapping machine
1 Regularly check the electrical circuit and replace the damaged ones. Regularly check the various parts of the equipment and tighten the loose parts.
2 Regularly add lubricating oil to the double-sided lapping machine. Try to start the machine once before work to avoid any sundries. Clean the inside of the machine after work and keep the machine clean. Record after maintenance.
3 Pay attention to clean the sundries, check whether the working position, spring burns or breaks in the maintenance.
4 Keep the inlet and outlet of the lapping slurry open, and add lubricating oil to the moving position.
5 If the motor has noise or high temperature( above 80°C), stop the machine immediately and check it. Clean the sun gear and outer ring gear once in each shift ensure that there are no sundries between the gears.
6 Ensure that the flow of water smooth. After opening the switch of the motor, if it is found that the motor does not start reacting immediately, stop the machine and check it. Regularly do maintenance work, clean the exhaust vents and holes.
7 Pay attention to the maintenance of the appearance to avoid rust. It should be painted anti-rust. When storing the equipment, cover it to prevent the dust from covering the working surface.
8 Completely put the workpieces in the fixture. Check whether there is anything sticking to the workpiece on the upper lapping wheel before lifting and lowering the upper disc.
